Potential Sources

In addition to the extensive reserves of titaniferous magnetites containing vanadium in Australia, China, Russia and South Africa there are several other deposits of magnetites and other materials containing vanadium from which it could be extracted in the future.

Potential Sources

There are magnetite deposits in Brazil, Chile, and Malaysia. Oil shales and tar sands containing vanadium are present in North America and Queensland, Australia.

Vanadium Plant Vanadium in the tar sands of Alberta, Canada was extracted for a short time in 1991 and could become a source in the future.

The aluminium clays of Arkansas, USA could again become a source of vanadium.

The tar-like deposits of crude oil along the shores of the Orinoco River in Venezuela contain vanadium. This could be extracted from fly and boiler ashes from electric power plant burning this fuel.
